Contest: Pimping for More Followers

I DO have news! I've added another prize to my contest!

Yes. Paid Admission to 2010 RomCon in Denver!!!!!

On the 27th of February 2010 I started a blog on a whim. And you guys have embraced me like you wouldn't believe. Now, I'm trying to figure out what took me so long to do this.

So my contest is three-fold. One, to thank everyone who has treated me so kindly and given me encouragement; two, since this blog is also for you, let me know how I can improve it; and three to pimp for more followers! LOL.

Since my contest has three purposes, it will have three winners!

Ha, Ha. Now it's 4 winners, cause I'm an overachiever!

Grand Prize:
Paid admission to 2010 RomCon in Denver. Date of conference is July 9th - July 11th, 2010 (This is for the ADMISSION ONLY! Not hotel, meals, and airfare! - hey, I'm not rich I have little kids here people!) Value is $125.00

Runner Up:

I will have two book drawings for U.S. Residents and one drawing for an International Residents. The two U.S. winners will have the option of picking between the two book packages (first come first serve). The international winner will get to pick a book (or books) to be shipped to them from the Book Depository. Their Book Depository shipment has to be under $10.00.

Hello my Vulcan friend. What I would like to see on your blog is a section dedicated to me because I know how much you love me! I don't sound to vain by writing that do I? hehe Just Kidding. Everything looks fine on your blog and I'm happy that you are having a contest. :)

Your blog looks great. Always like a chance to win a free book. Good luck with increasing your followers.

My comment stayed, but what is a blog button? I know, I know it's probably obvious, right? :)

Lynette said...

The comments section was fine. It was the form I had everyone enter for the book giveaway that I screwed up. The blog button if for anyone who has a blog that can put my button on their blog for extra entries.

Sorry for the confusion.

I think your blog looks great (especially the yummy goodness that is your header). I just noticed you’re an Army vet. We’re an Air Force family living in hot and humid Fort Polk.

Had to repost because I’m the typo queen tonight ;)

Hey guys thanks for the awesome feedback. I'm such a newbie at this, so thank you for embracing me.

@Luci I tried to do the suscribe thingy for the RSS feed. Let me know if it doesn't work.

@thebookvixen I have no idea how I was able to seperate that sidebar thingy. It's not me, I bow down to the awesomeness of Leontine for the blog design.

Keep the comments coming, even though I don't always comment right away, I do read them. Now got to deal with whiny 6 year old.

Love the colors!

One question:
You have a side bar item called SHOULD READ...do you mean YOU should be reading that or should WE (your blog visitors) read that one?

dyockman said...

Hey Lynette! Way to get this blog rolling. :) {{{hugs}}}

Andrea Becraft said...

Hey Lynette! Way to go with blog! I love how easy it is to read!

Lynette said...

Thanks guys for all the wonderful comments. I appreciate it. Be sure to let me know what I should change.

@Pearl UR right. It should be books that I Should be Reading. Like stuff I'm supposed to review for here or other sites I review for. LOL!

Christina said...

I am not sure you really need to change anythign Lynette. I really like that your reviews stand out because of the "Lynette's Two Cents" insert. Thank you for offering up this giveaway. I certainly know about not being Rich...if only I had money...lots and lots of money. I might never have to work and then I'd get even more books read!

Great giveaway! I really like your blog! The only suggestion I would say would be to have a twitter button so if people came to your blog they could find you on twitter:)

Hey - sorry, I think I may have entered the competition twice by mistake! I'm definitely not trying to cheat, not sure if I entered once or twice - so thought I'd let you know in the comments!
(Also, side-notes: 1. Don't apologise for your prizes because you're poor! It's generous enough of you to be holding a giveaway at all, let alone one with such an expensive grand prize, so definitely don't feel bad in any way! And 2. I love that you're so open about the reason for this contest. :D "Pimping for more followers"? Well, you got me! :)
I like your "favourite 2010 reads" section (I think it would be interesting to have an overall favourites list as well, but I know you only started this blog in 2010)
One feature that I didn't see that I always like is a list of book reviews, organised by author's name or title. I do like, though, that you can search reviews by genre label.
Hope these comments help! :)

Lynette said...

Thanks for the reply. Umm . . . don't take me seriously when I say I'm poor. I'm poor like anyone with two young kids and daycare costs is poor. LOL!

Thanks for your suggestions. Now, I'm going to play around and see if I can do what you suggested and search for reviews by name or title. Anyone know how to do that off the top of their head?

Hi Lynette, Don't really see where you need to make changes. Just go with this and you can always chg things or add if you want to.

I don't know if I will be able to go to RomCon so should I be chosen can you pass it to someone else. I have been avid reader for over 55 yrs so would love to with either Pack 2 or 3.
I filled out form.
Thanks for the opportunity to enter this awesome contest.

I don't know how to find my status on twitter but did send new tweet..to 264 tweeters

I Like The Way Your Blog Looks. The Side Bar Boxes Are Pretty Kool. And Everything Looks Like You Put A Lot Of Thought Into Were It Should Go. As I Am Not Looking To Go To RomCom If I Win I Hope To Take A Pass On That In Lue Of The Books. Awesome Giveaway You Have Going On.

Hey Lynette, thank you for this generous giveaway and for thinking of your international followers too! :-)

Hm.. you ask for suggestions on what you could improve.. hm.. I like that you use labels so it is easy to search through them. I think if you had a new page in your navigation (Book reviews) where you compiled a list of all the reviews you ahve written (either by author's name or title) that woudl be helpful. That's what comes to my mind right now..

Thank you!

:-) Stella
