PRIDE AND PREJUDICE: THE WILD AND WANTON EDITION
Jane Austen and Michelle Pillow
ISBN #: 9781440506604
Publisher Name: Adams Media
Date Released: January 14th, 2011
Page Count: 480
Genre: Erotic, Historical Romance
Book Format: Print
BACK COVER BLURB:
It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife . . . in bed. Unfortunately, we've never been able to see Elizabeth and Fitzwilliam in flagrante delicto—until now.
In this deliciously naughty updating of the beloved classic, you can peek behind the closed doors of Pemberley's sexiest master bedroom—and revel in the sexual delights of your favorite couple.
From first kiss to orgasmic finish, this book is every Austen fan's dream come true—the story you love, with the heat turned up to high. It will come as no surprise that the dashing Mr. Darcy is as passionate and intense with his knickers off as he is with them on. And admit it, we've all wanted to see him sans knickers!
COVER SNARK:
I actually like the cover. That and the premise is what enticed me to actually buy this book.
FIRST LINES:
It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife.
LYNETTE'S TWO CENTS:
One of my secret vices is Pride and Prejudice adaptations. I've been a fan ever since I read Helen Fielding's Bridget Jones's Diary and realized that she based that book upon the BBC mini series Pride and Prejudice starring Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle. So I went and got that version of the mini-series and have been hooked every since. It's a sickness. And if there is anyone out here who has not seen the Colin Firth/Jennifer Ehle version, I think there is something serious wrong with you and this needs to be addressed promptly (cough, cough Fiction Vixen). Also, if you watched that movie with that Keira Knightly and Matthew Macfadyen's and think that's the best version ever, I have serious issues with you.
As you can see I am very passionate about this subject.
Anyhoo. When Robin was on Twitter posting her books covers, she posted this one. I immediately saved her tweet and when this book was released I downloaded it to the Kindle and started reading.
I should have paid more attention to the Amazon reviews first. Really, I should have. I could not finish this book no matter how anxious I was to read it. I simply could not.
PRIDE AND PREJUDICE: THE WILD AND WANTON EDITION basically takes Jane Austen's version and adds a paragraph of two of some heated thoughts and behaviors. However, those heated thoughts and behaviors (which is mostly of Darcy jacking off and Lydia humping anything that moves) does not fit in with Jane Austen's style and instead of being a pleasure are a big distraction that pulled me out of the story.
As you know, I am not a prude in my reading and my favorite Pride and Prejudice adaptations includes smexing, but I just could not get into this novel. I just could not. It did flow right, it seemed out of place, it just didn't do a thing for me.
I just didn't like it. I've been trying to finish reading this since I bought in January 14th and finally decided to stop. I made it up to where Mr. Collins arrives.
WHERE PURCHASED:
I actually bought this book with my own money on the day it was released. SIGH! However, if this intrigues you, Amazon has just offered it as a free read. You can look on Amazon and get this title for free until they take it down.

I'm so glad I read your review and did not purchase this book. We have not always seen eye to eye when it comes to books in general, but we've discussed the P&P adaptations and I know there are some that I enjoy that you don't. However, I totally think you know what you're talking about with this particular one so I'm going to skip it.
Btw, I LOVE the 2005 more than the Colin Firth one! *sticks out tongue and runs away*
It's actually free today at amazon.
@Bells
I like Matthew McFayden as Mr. Darcy. I thought he did a great job. However, I just don't like Keira Knightly and I didn't like her here in Pride and Prejudice. Of course, the only Keira Knightly movies I've liked where ones where she wasn't the star like Bend it Like Beckham and Love Actually. LOL!
@UniquelyMoi
I know that's why I decided to post my review now so that people can get it free if they're addict like me but warning them that I paid and just didn't like it.
Lynette, you might have posted that in your review, but I didn't read it in case there were spoilers, sorry! LOL
No spoilers except saying how much I didn't like the book. LOL!
I am not a PP prude either, sure they be passionate..but not like this
It might've gotten better, but it didn't entice me to read further to find out!
I might have to check this one out, especially since it's free. The 2005 movie was the first adaptation I saw of Pride/Prejudice (I don't know what was wrong with me that I hadn't seen it before then.) so that is the version I like most.
I tried to watch the one with Colin Firth, but the actress who played Lizzie bothered me so much that I had a hard time watching it all the way through-so I get were you are coming from with Kiera Knightly.
Free you say? Hmm....might be a good filler for those times when days are slow.
But 2005 P&P? Why would I? I am currently busy stalking Colin Firth.
BTW, have you seen the excerpt of Primrose?
@buckeye
You didn't like Jennifer. I think that's scrariligeious (okay, I know it looses it's impact if I can't even spell the word - LOL). I've always had a Keira Knightly block, and not even just the P&P movie. I don't like any of the movies she's in.
@Anon
Yes, it free, so it won't hurt. Did you see the King's Speech? Wasn't it the most awesome movie ever. If he'd ever leave his beautiful wife, I would so start stalking him. LOL!
I saw the excerpt. I was so hyped. I can't wait. I hope it doesn't take her forever to finish like it did Patience!
Hmm ... I guess I am the only one who paused after reading the name Luke. The first question that popped into my mind is:
Who the wells is Luke? I just finished Patience, (Passion coming-your caution) and it was insinuated that they are pushing Fitz Roy on her. (Sigh... I think I read too many series)
@Anon
I just assumed tha that it was a new charecter! LOL!
I did assume at first and was excited but after the third paragraph something in my just-read-the-Patience-book state of mind flashed so I went back and check Fitz Roy's whole name - Roark Fitz Roy.
Back to the book at hand, it's like a fine satin that they attempted to accessorize with lace, instead ended patched with cotton.
